A primary school in the London borough of Ealing was this week renamed after Blair Peach, the New Zealand-born teacher who was killed while demonstrating against the National Front in Southall in 1979. The Blair Peach school opened in Southall in September 1987, but in 1992, Conservative Ealing council changed its name to Hayes Bridge primary despite protests. After returning to power in 1994, the new Labour administration decided to change the name back.
