A Most of the long-term teacher movement between countries is for posts in private schools. Many governments are obviously anxious to fill schools with locally trained teachers who understand the languages, culture and syllabuses found in their schools. This may be particularly true in subjects such as history where values are involved. You could contact the various High Commissions, but your best bet may be to find a post through the private schools network, then see what you can transfer to.
You could contact the British Council education representative in the countries you are interested in working in, but they may be more concerned with selling British education than exporting teachers.
Q I came to the United Kingdom to obtain my PGCE, and having done so, I intend to return home. Will I have QTS, or does that only come after gaining some teaching experience? If I decide to return to the UK to teach, how long will the qualification be valid? If I stay in the UK for a year and work as a supply teacher, will this count towards my UK induction period?
A There are four different education systems in the United Kingdom and their training systems are not always the same. Once you have completed your PGCE, there is a set time during which you need to complete the induction period for QTS to be fully in place. There are some circumstances where you can complete the Induction requirements whilst working as a long-term supply teacher, but not as a daily supply.
Realistically, you would probably be advised to complete your Induction and register with the General Teaching Council as a qualified teacher. At present the qualification is not time limited, but no one can guarantee that the rules won’t change at some point in the future. Nevertheless, I am sure your training and experience would help you re-qualify fairly quickly, if it was necessary.
