The article argues that heroism and virtues differ over time and between cultures. Who do pupils regard as today’s British and global heroes? Seek examples, opinions and reasons through questioning, and identify the virtues that the heroes demonstrate. List three virtues (or select them from the “12 chivalric virtues”) that society should most celebrate today.

Create a radio story or assembly drama of a “hero of our times”, who lives by the chosen virtues (eg an ecological hero?). (National curriculum: virtues, ethics, propaganda, exploitation, social engineering, role of the media in society, individuals who change communities. PoS 1h, 2, 3)
