When words like “refugee” and “asylum seeker” feature regularly in inflammatory headlines, a resource like Global Communities is particularly valuable. There are packs for KS23, addressing the same issues but with increasing degrees of complexity. The packs use a mixture of wide-ranging definitions, fact-sheets, personal testimonies, newspaper articles, poems and statistics. These support many demanding, but rewarding activities.

Work within literacy is especially lively, with children invited to read, talk, argue, write and re-enact stories, but there is also much to be done in history, PSHE and citizenship.
