Rural teachers need to make greater efforts to raise their pupils’ aspirations, according to a new report which says the long-term future of the countryside is in jeopardy. The study - by Dr Stuart Burgess, the Government’s Rural Advocate - says rural communities have “deep concerns” with housing, work, transport, training and social exclusion are preventing young people from living in the countryside.
