A dangerous lesson should put us on red alert

Every Child Matters is a good idea in theory. However, trying to do everything to “fix” children and help them become functioning members of society is just beyond schools. Do we need people who can do the job (assuming parents either can’t or won’t)? Of course we do. But that task needs specialists, not people trying to do 10 other jobs at once.
