A teaching assistant has been hailed a hero after he rescued a pupil from drowning during a swimming lesson. Dai Davies, who works at Maes Y Coed school in Neath Port Talbot, leapt into action after 18-year-old Daniel Matthews had an epileptic seizure and fell into the deep end of Pontardawe pool. Daniel’s parents praised Mr Davies as “one in a million”.
