Although education secretary Michael Gove’s policy of restricting the number of “good” grades available in school-age examinations seems the perfect way to engineer a steady supply of schools in need of academisation, there will come a time when he (or his successor) will need to relax or reverse the policy, or there won’t be enough good grades for his new schools to be able to prove that they are succeeding. Prepare for the merry-go-round to turn again ...
