Details of the public inquiry into the 2005 outbreak of E.Coli in South Wales emerged this week, writes Gareth Davies.

A six-week probe will start on February 12 into the epidemic that struck 118 children and 44 schools. One child, five-year-old Mason Jones from Bargoed, died. James Eadie, QC, will be senior counsel in the Cardiff-based inquiry being led by recently retired microbiologist Professor Hugh Pennington.

Bridgend-based butcher William Tudor, aged 55, was jailed for supplying the contaminated meat that led to the outbreak.
