Easea, the “electronic in-tray” that makes official documents available online to schools, is now available.
Estelle Morris, school standards minister, last month launched the system that the Government hopes will eventually eliminate the need for paper-based communication with schools.
It is also intended to reduce the amount of paperwork school managers have to deal with, as Easea allows irrelevant documents to be filtered out. Other features include a pinboard and archive facility to help users keep rack of information.
Easea can be accessed via the new Teachernet portal that provides access to DFEE websites. But the Government’s ambitions for electronic communications has been questioned by a survey by education charity the Centre for the Study of Comprehensive Schools that found more than half the 758 emails sent to schools bounced back.
