Martin Stephen says that independent schools are becoming the “sole preserve of the super-rich”. That just isn’t so. Many independent day schools are raising funds for assisted places with the aim of making our schools more accessible. Dr Stephen knows this because he was committed to this purpose as High Master of Manchester Grammar School.
