Ivor Jones has been appointed to a key staff development role after losing his post in redundancies at the Association of Colleges.
A popular figure on both sides of the divide in the battle over lecturers’
pay, Mr Jones was director of employment policy at the AoC.
He has been appointed director of operations at the Further Education National Training Organisation, replacing Monica Deasy, who has been promoted to chief executive. She said: “We are all absolutely delighted that Ivor was available and wanted to come and work with us. ” David Hunter, Ms Deasy’s predecessor, will take the helm of the sector skills council for lifelong learning, which will oversee staff development across all post-16 education, taking over Fento’s roles.
