A COLLEGE has developed what may be the world’s safest aircraft.

The machine has no wings, cockpit, pilot or engines. It comes with the latest safety equipment - not that this will be needed because this is one bird which is never going to leave the ground.

The only route is from Norwich to, er, Norwich, but the in-flight service is destined to be second to none.

The “aircraft” is in fact a mock-up cabin section hich has been installed in a classroom for training cabin crew at Norwich City College.

“The success of our cabin-crew students underlines both the breadth and thoroughness of their training,” said Anni Waterhouse, course leader for the cabin-crew programme.

The course is run by the college’s Hotel School in association with Pan Aviation Training Services and KLM, the Dutch airline based at Norwich Airport.
