Is it worth teaching abroad for a few years, or will it mean I will never be able to find a teaching post in this country again?

Now might be a good time to spend a few years abroad. Jobs are likely to be hard to find until the retirement boom overtakes the decline in school rolls as the main factor driving teacher supply. Exactly when that will be is not easy to determine, but around four in ten teachers will retire in the next decade, in addition to those who leave for other reasons. A younger profession will eventually mean more maternity leave posts than in recent years.
