Amid the growth in popularity of golf among Scotland’s schoolchildren, the British Golf Museum has opened a new gallery aimed specifically at junior enthusiasts of the game. The 18th Hole focuses on a mini putting green where visitors can try a putt using replica feather, gutta-percha and early rubber-cored balls with the putters of the time. A dressing-up corner allows children the opportunity to try period golfing costume and can be found alongside hands-on, interactive panels that cover the history of golfing equipment. The museum, based in St Andrews is developing a schools programme, but welcomes group bookings at any time.
