A “high”-tech adventure

(Photograph) - A British teacher is hoping to set the world record for the highest-ever terrestrial science lesson, writes Yolanda Brooks. Physics specialist Chris Mothersdale, right, will be climbing Everest in late May, with sensors attached to his body to measure the physical changes as his body adjusts to the high altitude. Chris is already acclimatising in the Himalayas. He plans to make his final ascent in late May and hopes to reach the summit.

Science software specialists New Media will be collating the data on an expedition website and providing background information and downloadable teaching resources suitable for key stages 2, 3 and 4. As well as using the data to conduct their own experiments, schools can enter an Everest experiment write-up competition. You can follow the expedition and download teaching resources from the site at www.new-media.co.uk.
