Add the Roma to key themes of British and world history, enriching them in the process.
KS2: Students could add the Roma and Irish Travellers to their studies of Victorian Britain, eg look at how Irish Travellers helped build Britain’s transport network or the role of the Roma in the travelling circuses.
KS3: Students could add Roma to the list of those who refused to conform to the Protestant Reformation and suffered as a result.
KS34: Students could add the Roma to the list of victims of the Nazi holocaust. Students at ASA2 could be encouraged to investigate the Roma and other less well known victims of genocide, such as Jehovah’s Witnesses.
