Key stage 2 pupils might enjoy creating their own narratives about the Wright brothers, or Frank Whittle’s perseverance in developing jet powered flight. KS3 pupils looking at the 20th-century could use powered flight for a study of the development of new technology. Pupils at KS4 or beyond could write an article imagining they were the 1930s and describe a not-too-distant future in which warfare involved aeroplanes bombing cities.
