Pupils at key stage 2 could look at Tudor scholars and decide whether they were more or less important than monarchs. They could also investigate if science made any contribution to fighting disease in this period. The advent of the Age of Reason could underpin many KS3 units in history. The Reformation, the Enlightenment and other intellectual movements help explain the gradual erosion of magic. Political changes also follow challenges to the Divine Right of Kings, the French Revolution, the rise of Nationalism and the emergence of democracy.
