Make an Olympic-sized splash

Are your pupils brave enough to tackle ice cold winter rapids? Lee Valley White Water Centre in east London is the only new 2012 Olympics venue that can be used by the public ahead of the Games. The school rafting experience, suitable for children aged 11 and over (after a safety briefing), ventures on to the 160m Legacy Loop with its 1.6m descent. Pupils aged 14 and over can try the more challenging 300m Olympic Standard Competition Course with its 5.5m drop.

What else?

Want to set up your own orienteering course? Rachelheadland has supplied a series of ready-to-use cards. For more recommended activities to get pupils into the team spirit, try guzzel’s suggestions of fun games.
