An ICT Zone has been introduced at the Under 12s exhibition, which is sponsored by Nursery World and TES Primary magazines. The exhibition, which opens tomorrow at the Business Design Centre in north London, will allow visitors to find out more about the use of ICT in early-years education. They can visit the First Steps in Multimedia area, where TEEM (Teachers Evaluating Educational Multimedia) will be giving advice on how to get the best out of software and the Internet.
Staff from Early Years Net will be running introductory sessions on the Internet and visitors will be able to send emails and voicemails and try out a webcam.
SamLearning.com will host a session on online learning communites and Chris Thatcher, former president of the National Association of Head Teachers, will demonstrate the company’s online materials, which the NAHT has endorsed. Seminars covering ICT use will run on each of the three days.
But the exhibition is not just about ICT; it covers all aspects of early-years education. This year there is also a Careers Zone, and information on literacy and numeracy support, administration, special needs, play equipment, setting up a nursery and child protection all under one roof.
The Under 12s Exhibition runs from Saturday November 18 until Monday November 20, from 10am-5pm (4.30pm on Monday). Entry is free. For full details, visit www.under12s.co.uk.
