Maths Year 2000 lives on in the Count On Project, which provides cash and equipment to support up to 200 maths events in schools or other locations. Schools can apply for up to pound;200 and will also receive information, ideas, equipment (games, puzzles, posters), pencils, postcards and stickers. Organisers are sought for several large, public MathFests to be held in a public place such as a sports venue or shopping centre. The United Kingdom Mathematics Trust runs annual Maths Challenges for schoolchildren at junior, intermediate and senior levels. High scorers can participate in further rounds, including the Junior Olympiad, the British Mathematical Olympiad and the International Olympiad, which this year was held in Washington DC. Teachers often find some pupils excel in these tests who do not fare well inother maths exams. Thomas Telford Comprehensive School in Shropshire has been developing an online maths course with support and sponsorship from the HSBC Education Trust.
