Confirmation that to influence a Blair government you have to be in a think-tank comes with the appointment of Matthew Taylor as director of the Institute for Public Policy Research. The 37-year-old son of Laurie Taylor, the academic and broadcaster, arrives next month from Labour’s Millbank tower headquarters where he was director of policy.
