Ossian: Fragments of Ancient Poetry. The An Tobar Arts Centre Tobermory, Isle of Mull until April 30
An exhibition of large-scale photo montage-style compositions that examine truth, lies and “Scottishness” travels over the sea to Mull.
According to Sheena Watson of An Tobar, the show will be of interest to older primary school and secondary school pupils, and touches on several areas of the curriculum including English and history as well as art.
Artist Calum Colvin’s inspiration for the works was a scandal that hit the headlines more than 200 years ago. A Scot claimed to have discovered an epic work by the third century blind poet, Ossian, and then was apparently exposed as a fraud. But was he?
The show uses images including Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott, See You Jimmy hats and Rangers and Celtic merchandise.
