Inverness College must be grateful that Tory MSP Mary Scanlan keeps a close eye on its affairs, naturally enough since she is a former employee.
The college is currently struggling to pay off its debts - incurred not least by the costs of severance packages.
Scanlan revealed at a recent meeting of the parliamentary audit committee that she herself was a redundancy statistic in 1994. “They’re still paying for you, Mary,” a fellow MSP shot back.
