Labour seen as best for education in poll

https://www.tes.com/magazine/archive/labour-seen-best-education-poll
This week’s Harris Research Centre poll for the Association of Teachers and Lecturers shows voters believe Labour is the party most likely to invest in education, with the Liberal Democrats coming second.

However, Labour’s lead over the Conservatives has narrowed with 27 per cent of voters believing the Conservative party is the most likely to invest in schools. In July only 21 per cent considered the Conservatives the party most likely to invest in education.

The Conservative party conference appears to have improved the party’s standing on education, though Labour remains well ahead. The poll shows that 40 per cent believe Labour will get the best out of teachers, compared with 30 per cent for the Liberal Democrats and 23 per cent for the Conservatives.

Labour has a 16-point lead over the Conservatives on the question of which party offers the best job prospects for children at the end of their education.

The interviews were carried out over a two-day period on 11 and 13 October.
