There could be no better vindication of Stephen Pollard’s vitriolic criticism of the GTC than the the council’s pusillanimous response to a member of Hizb-ut-Tahrir who failed to disclose his Egyptian imprisonment to the Criminal Records Bureau (“He spent four years in prison for his Islamist beliefs, but now he’s free to teach”, October 15). Instead of being prevented from spreading his unsavoury views, his behaviour was deemed to be “comprehensible” and no sanctions were imposed.
