“How come there’s a photo o’ a parrot on yer wa?” asked a second-year pupil.

“Because it belongs to some friends in Paris and I like it,” replied his teacher.

“So is it French?”

“Well, it’s from Africa but lives in France, and when it speaks, it’s in French.”

“You tryin’ to say that bird can talk French?”

“Well . . . yes, because that’s the language it hears all the time.”

“So that parrot had to learn to say a’ they ‘le’ and ‘la’ words, an’ a’

they verb bits an’ things. How did it dae that?”

Brings new meaning to learning parrot-fashion.
