KS1

Use the data about the size of hurricanes to show how big they are compared to England. Compare the speed they travel at and their wind speeds to the speed of a car or an express train.

KS2-3

Consider what the area of a forest of 15 million trees would be. How does that compare to the town, city or region where the pupils live? This will require estimation skills. How much land area does a tree occupy, on average? Challenge pupils to estimate the number of trees in their village, town, city or county, justifying their reasoning.

KS3-4

Check the conversions between centigrade and Fahrenheit, miles and kilometres, metres and feet, and miles and nautical miles. Is it sensible to still use imperial and metric systems.
