Glasgow has awarded a pound;54 million 12-year contract for a complete information and communications technology infrastructure for its 29 high schools. Mitel Communications said it was the largest managed services contract awarded in British education. It will provide voice communications. Hewlett Packad is providing the computer hardware while Morse will be the systems integrator. More than pound;8 million and 3,000 new computers have been put into the schools during summer. All classrooms with have at least two PCs per classroom with free Internet links for schools.
