THAT hotbed of Marxist revolutionaries, the International Management Development Agency, has been sending out five-centilitre bottles of Smirnoff vodka to celebrate the 84th anniversary of the Russian revolution in 1917.

In fact, the Bolshevik revolutionaries turned the company’s Moscow distillery into a state garage. Vladmir Smirnov fled for his life and revived the brand abroad under the name Smirnoff.

Nevertheless, the miniature bottles were distributed with an invitation to the media to interview David Brook, IMDA’s chief executive, and to take part in one of the agency’s courses. Not missing an opportunity to make a link between business and the overthrow of the ruling class, the accompanying bumf says the company’s courses will “revolutionise the way managers think about their work.” Get it?
