UNITED STATES: Teachers and pupils from 1,200 schools flocked to McDonald’s restaurants in 14 states for a “McTeacher’s Night” which may have raised $1 million for schools. Teachers in McDonald’s uniforms served youngsters and their parents. The fast-food giant said it would donate 20 per cent of the evening’s sales to participating schools. However, not everyone was happy with the event. “Turning teachers into promoters for McDonald’s is using their time inappropriately,” said Andrew Hagelshaw of the Center for Commercial-Free Public Education.
