Can I receive a relocation allowance?
Such payments are at the discretion of the governing body. They are common for senior staff. There is nothing to stop you negotiating one, but you may have left it too late if you have accepted the post and signed your contract. The advantage of these allowances is that they help cushion the cost of setting up a new home and may be tax free up to a certain limit.
