I have been offered a job in a new school. However, they do not pay recruitment and retention points, so I am going to lose quite a bit of money. At least behaviour is not a problem at the new school, which will make quite a change.
Teaching is not only about the money; although it is a necessary part of doing the job. As recruitment and retention points are being phased out by 2007, you will eventually lose the cash anyway, so there is no reason to feel guilty on that score for leaving your present school. This also means that your salary will drop whether you stay or whether you leave your present school. This drop in salary may affect your pension: so if you are thinking about leaving the profession before your salary would catch up, take proper advice about the consequences.
