Museums Week is established in the cultural calendar as a way of alerting people to the treasures and pleasures in the nation’s museums.

The one drawback is that it is just one week out of 52. Which is why its organiser, the Campaign for Museums, has launched this neat little web site to keep the flag flying all year round.

While part of its function is to generate interest in next year’s Museums Week, it also provides a useful directory to events in more than 1,000 museums.

And - the clincher, as far as this column is concerned - the site has a little treasure of its own: three “activity packs” for children. These are good quality resources - two on art, one on science - providing ready-made worksheets for school or family museum visits.
