TES content partner Artis Education’s new activity Clap and Click encourages pupils to develop concentration and coordination skills.
What is it?
A simple but effective whole-class activity: a teacher plays a rhythm on a hand drum and children clap it back. Then the teacher uses the skin and rim of the drum, and children have to clap when they hear the skin and click their fingers when they hear the rim. Once pupils are confident, challenge them further by swapping things around so that they click for the skin and clap for the rim.
Who is it for?
Artis Education specialises in creative learning, using music and performing arts to develop key skills, particularly for key stage 1 and 2 pupils.
