You should not be scared of new technology, but it can be something of a double-edged sword.

This is because the Internet is an unimaginably huge resource, and a way of communicating with everyone - from the President of the USA to the people in the class down the corridor. But it’s like any other classroom resource - it will only work for you if you plan ahead, keep control and use it to achieve measurable goals. Wade in too soon and the Internet all too easily becomes the most frustrating, time-wasting device ever invented.

This project won’t tell you everything about using the Internet in school. But it does point to ways in which you can use it to excite and interest your pupils and broaden their knowledge and understanding of present - and past - developments in communication technology and their importance in everyday life.
