FURTHER ADVANCED CHEMISTRY. By B Earl and LDR Wilford. John Murray pound;14.99

Further Advanced Chemistry is another generic textbook. Again, it is arranged in three sections and there is a useful specification-matching matrix in the introduction. Very clear explanations are supported by worked examples, diagrams and graphs.

There are checklists and exam questions at the end of each chapter with answers to shorter questions and numerical questions at the end. There are also tasks to assess key skills. I was particularly impressed by the excellent section on Organic Synthesis and Analysis together with that on Structure Determination. In all, this is a very good value A2 textbook.
