Not-so-cuddly post office visitors

https://www.tes.com/magazine/archive/not-so-cuddly-post-office-visitors
In the latter days of my time as a teacher (before leaving to run a post office) children in my school were visited by Santa, Postman Pat and Noddy.

Now schools can leave education to become post offices they can look forward to flying visits from the Mr Men, Mr Sledgehammer and Mr Sawnoff, and will be able to participate in that most entertaining of pedagogic scenarios, the hostage situation, while Sledgehammer and Sawn-off attempt to open one of their “instant access” accounts at the school post office.

Teachers, of course, will welcome the range of new security measures and will not mind in the least having to take a different route into school every day to throw potential kidnappers off the trail.

And although it might impinge on the sacred hour of literacy surely nothing but good can come of the children being exposed to the rhetorical nuances of the “my Giro’s late an’ it’s doin’ my fuckin’ ‘ed in you bastard” debating manoeuvre. So, who says this Government lacks a vision for education?
