It was only a matter of time before someone on Planet Broadcast realised that the Internet could star in its own interactive TV show. Because adults, by and large, use the Net for fairly predictable stuff like shopping and searching for pictures of Brad Pitt sans vetements, it’s down to children to actually have some fun with it.

Children’s BBC takes us into the realm of virtual game shows with Sub Zero. Web video conferencing will link both the children and celebrities in a studio, with players in Internet cafes around the country.

Teams will have to undertake a number of techno-challenges involving computers and the Internet but viewers at home can join in too, even if they don’t have a computer. Using the telephone number key pad they can direct a remote-controlled robot round the studio or try to crack codes to earn extra points for one of the teams. Sub Zero is, naturally, on the Internet already: www.bbc.co.ukcbbc Sub Zero. BBC2 Sundays, 11-11.25am.
