Anthony Seldon is wrong. Infringement of personal liberty is not a good thing. Would he care to explain how compulsory physical training would instill self-discipline? (“Would it be such a sweat to bring back PT?” TES Comment, July 25).

If this is a headmaster’s idea of logic, it explains a lot. I believe that all secondary schools should run sports teams, but all participation should be voluntary, ensuring the greatest happiness of the greatest possible number.
