TONY Blair faced embarrassment this week after it was revealed that one of his closest advisers is sending her son to a top private school.

Sally Morgan’s son is attending the pound;8,900 a year City of London School rather than one of the local secondary schools near his home in South London.

David Levin, head of the school, alma mater of Lord Asquith and Julian Barnes, confirmed the boy had joined this term.

The boys’school in the City selects on academic grounds and achieves high results.

But Mr Levin said the school takes a mixture of backgrounds. One third of boys get some form of scholarship. “We have the highest proportion of boys from state primaries in London”, he said.

Baroness Morgan told newspapers she had tried and failed to get her child into two good local comprehensive..

But local comprehensive heads reacted angrily saying the boy could have had just as good schooling with them.
