(Photograph) - A primary teacher claims to have boosted the language skills and confidence of pupils by using the latest digital media technology in the classroom podcasting, writes Jayne Isaac. Paul Harrington (right), responsible for ICT at Cefn Fforest primary school, Blackwood, spoke of good practice in recording pupils as young as seven to be downloaded to MP3 players and mobile phones from the web at the annual WITS (Wales Information Technology) exhibition last month. An average of 300 hits from around the world is made for school produced podcasts every month. But he warned teachers to ensure that children were protected at all times. “All the feedback and comments are read by me first so that nothing inappropriate is viewed by the children,” he said.
