FRANCE: Olympic boxer Brahim Asloum and Ramp;B singer Laam are among celebrity role models taking part in the government’s new campaign to encourage pupils to respect each other and their teachers.

Asloum’s TV message for secondary pupils says that the only place he punches is in the ring. “And there, as elsewhere, I respect the rules, my trainer and especially my opponent.” Laam admitted at last week’s launch that when she was young she didn’t have much respect for rules. But now she says: “If you don’t respect your parents, your teachers, your school, you have everything to lose.”

The campaign also calls on lycee pupils to take part in anti-violence competitions, and those at lower secondary to devise a national charter against violence. Full story www.tes.co.uk
