Stephen Petty recommended the 1971 film Melody should be both shown on TV and turned into a stage musical (“Halcyon day of love to a Bee Gees soundtrack,” May 1). It may interest Mr Petty to know that it seems that the actress Tracy Hyde stayed “bewitchingly beautiful” and moved to France. It should be pointed out, however, that the hero and his friend were caned by their Latin teacher, rather than the headmaster, for failing to do their homework - something that did happen at the time.
