  • Where?
    • He’s deputy headteacher at Sneyd Green Primary School in Burslem, Stoke on Trent.

      • Why?
        • Jason trained as a teacher at Derby University and worked at a variety of schools in different leadership roles before arriving at Sneyd Green Primary School six years ago as deputy headteacher.

It’s an inner-city primary with 380 children and 16 teaching staff and during Jason’s time there he’s worn many different hats, leading in the areas of PE and maths. He’s also been a teaching and learning consultant and an assessment leader. Jason has recently completed the graduation stage of the NPQH.

He is well respected by staff at the school, directing mentoring programmes and creating bespoke initiatives to support individual professional development. He has a strong vision for the school, and himself, and can see the bigger picture. His greatest impact has been in raising teaching and learning standards at the school.

Other staff report that the children absolutely love him and he’s a really inspirational leader to have around the school.

          Nominated by

Rosina Lee, headteacher, who says: “Jason is an outstanding leader. He has the right qualities for school leadership from his dedication to improving learning and teaching standards to his thoughtful and approachable nature. He’s a real star.”

Thanks to the National College for Leadership of Schools and Children’s Services for nominating this week’s rising star. Send in your one to watch to features@tes.co.uk including 300 words and a picture.
