Coventry Technical College has set up a helpline for students worried about violence after a student was suspended for alleged robbery and intimidation.

Security has also been tightened up after the suspension.

A 16-year-old student is said to have robbed another student after taking him on a two-hour drive around Coventry.

Police are investigating allegations against the student and were considering whether to charge him with robbery as The TES went to press. The 16-year-old is also said to have taken a substantial amount of property from the alleged victim.

Parents have set up a group to push for more action to be taken against the 16-year-old.

Roger Deats, principal of Coventry Technical College, said: “We will take any action that is necessary to maintain a safe and secure environment in the college.”
