Henry VIII’s wives may have lost their heads, but pupils will be able to bury theirs in an enormous collection of the king’s papers.
The Arts and Humanities Research Council is funding the Institute of Historical Research with pound;414,000 to digitise and publish online 293 volumes of state papers. History teachers and students will be able to read them free over the internet.
Already, the institute has published online other key primary and secondary sources from the early modern period, including the Parliamentary Journals and Ordnance County maps.
