Outstanding Community Involvement
You may have developed a partnership with a local university, FE College, business, independent school or other interesting group or organisation. Show us examples of both original and effective engagement.
Outstanding Leadership Team
This award is for the best school management team. The judges will be looking for examples of good leadership across a wide range of functions.
Outstanding Literacy amp; Numeracy Initiative
What have you done to help your pupils improve either their literacy or numeracy skills? Include clear quantifiable evidence of the success or progress you have achieved.
Outstanding Sporting Initiative
Have you opened up sport participation to the wider community or have improved involvement among disengaged pupils? We want to hear about it.
Outstanding Sustainable School
This award recognises teams that have made their schools more environmentally sound, whether it’s through improvements to the physical fabric of the building, or the fitting of new energy systems or controls, for example.
Outstanding ICT Learning Initiative
This category is open to any ICT learning initiative - perhaps you have developed an innovative way for pupils to learn out of school or created personalised learning through ICT.
Outstanding School Dinners
This rewards the school that is delivering the best school dinners. Explain the sort of menus you offer, and what makes them distinctive, attractive, and healthy for your pupils.
Outstanding Staff Training Initiative
Describe your overall staff training and development strategy, and the team that delivers it. Highlight how good performance is rewarded and how you benchmark your school’s CPD.
Outstanding Teacher Resource
Have you uploaded an outstanding classroom resource to the TES Connect resource bank? It could be a lesson plan, assembly idea or a whole-school resource - primary or secondary.
Lifetime Achievement
This award could go to a well-known education figurehead, or to an “unsung hero” - both are equally eligible. It’s your chance to nominate someone who has been truly exceptional and deserves this supreme accolade.
Outstanding Support Team
Behind every good school there’s a superb support team. This new award shines the spotlight on the people who handle all the functions that teachers could not do without - things such as administration, finance and general maintenance.
Outstanding Governors
This new category is aimed at rewarding the school with the most amazing and committed board of governors in the UK.
Outstanding Special Needs School
This new category is aimed at standalone special needs schools as opposed to special needs teams or individuals working within a conventional school. Show us the innovative projects that have made your school so successful in 2009.
