(Photograph) - Sci-fun: the Scottish science technology roadshow last week hit Orkney’s annual science festival. It aims to stimulate interest in the hope young people will take up science as a career - a key aim of the Government’s science strategy unveiled last week. At the launch of Science Year today (Friday), Jack McConnell, Education Minister, pledged to explore ways of generating interest in science beyond primary school and improve the expertise of teachers. Mr McConnell said pound;10 million for books and equipment announced for schools last month was clearly earmarked to benefit science resources. A national science co-ordinator was to be named today.
